Spec files for the planning family: - P1 PrimitiveDistance: closed-form signed distances for points, segments, spheres, capsules and oriented boxes, treated as core plus radius. - P2 PotentialField: conic-capped attraction and Khatib repulsion from proximity readings; local minima are detected and reported. - P3 GridSearch: A* and Dijkstra on 2-D and 3-D grids with costs from a callable, an indexed binary heap with decrease-key, and 16-bit indices on small grids. - P4 SelfCollision: joint-to-joint link capsules from M30's frame chain and an allowed-collision matrix. - P5 ConvexCollision: GJK on shape cores with the radii subtracted, and a bounded EPA for overlaps. - P6 RrtConnect: fixed node pools, injected sampler and validity test, and random shortcutting. Every reference value was checked against a Python reference implementation. Two robustness rules came out of that and are now normative: - EPA must orient faces from an interior point and treat coplanar faces as visible. Otherwise axis-aligned boxes give a depth of 0.15 instead of 0.5, and identical boxes produce NaN. - RRT-Connect needs a sampler whose consecutive draws are uncorrelated. An in-order base-2 Halton sequence starves both trees. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Mmp77ieEy16GxJL8KsLsVx

Adds spec files (
implementation.md,tests.md,explanation.md) for the planning family underroadmap/planning/, next to the existing W8–W10.PrimitiveDistance— closed-form signed distances (negative means penetration) between points, segments, spheres, capsules and oriented boxes, treated as core plus radius. Uses Ericson's segment–segment routine, including its parallel and zero-length branches.PotentialField— attraction that is quadratic near the goal and capped beyondd*, plus Khatib repulsion from proximity readings. The output is a clamped task-space velocity. Local minima are detected and reported, not hidden.GridSearch— A* and Dijkstra on 2-D and 3-D grids.SelfCollision— a capsule per link, joint to joint, from M30'sFrameChain. An allowed-collision matrix skips adjacent links by default. The check returns the minimum distance and the pair that attains it, so it also feeds P2, P6 and H2.ConvexCollision— GJK on shape cores with the radii subtracted (exact for rounded shapes), plus a bounded EPA for overlaps. Covers spheres, capsules, boxes and bounded hulls.RrtConnect— fixed node pools, with the sampler and validity test injected by the caller, plus random shortcutting. Runs are reproducible for a given seed.ROADMAP: the P entries describe the designs above, and the intro now lists planning as specced.
roadmap/README.md: P1–P6 added to theplanningindex.Checks. Every reference value comes from a Python reference implementation:
That work produced two rules, now written into the specs as normative:
No upstream (numerical-toolbox) prerequisites are needed.
