Closes #423

What was happening

When using /bug or /feature, the action buttons disappear because GitHub issues only accept plain text. However, you could still paste images from your clipboard or drag and drop files into the composer.

The composer would accept the image and show a preview, which gave the impression the screenshot would be attached to the GitHub issue (it wasn't).

Fix

  • Disabled the image onPaste handler and drag-and-drop zone while an issue command is active.
  • Made sure any existing image attachments are cleared when switching into an issue command.
  • Added unit tests in ComposerDraft.test.tsx to verify paste and drop are disabled in issue mode.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Image attachments can no longer be added while composing an issue by dragging, dropping, or pasting. Existing attachments are cleared when starting or creating an issue, and image previews and errors are hidden during issue composition.
    • Issue commands now require the minimum amount of text in the body, regardless of attachments. For regular commits, images can still satisfy the minimum-body requirement.
    • File drags no longer trigger image-drop behavior while composing an issue. Plain-text drags retain their existing behavior.

Issue command mode clears image attachments when a command starts and after issue creation. It disables image paste and drop handling, hides image previews and errors, and requires a minimum-length body for committability. Regular commits can still qualify through attached images.

Explanation

Issue #423 reports that image input remains available in issue-command drafts although GitHub does not attach those images. In commit-composer.tsx, issue mode removes the image paste handler, blocks file drag events, hides image previews and errors, and clears attachments when the issue starts. Issue mode also excludes image-only drafts from committability. ComposerDraft.test.tsx verifies the missing paste handler and file-drop blocking. These changes address the linked issue.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes stay within issue-command image handling. The onStart callback clears stale attachments, the committability change prevents invalid image-only issue drafts, and the tests cover the changed input behavior. No unrelated product change is demonstrated by the whole-pull-request diff.

Cancel file drops in issue mode.

In issue mode, the composer has no handler that cancels file drops. A file drop can trigger the browser’s default file navigation and take the user away from the composer.

The draft body remains in useStash and is flushed on pagehide, so the drop does not lose the unfinished draft. Poll mode already has the same missing cancellation because it also omits attachments.dropzone.

Add file-only dragover and drop handlers without attaching images.

Add an issue-mode onDrop assertion for file drops.

The new test checks only onDragOver in issue mode. If onDrop: cancelFileDrop were removed from the issue-mode branch, the browser could handle a dropped file by navigating to it, and this test would still pass. Add a matching assertion for onDrop:

Assert file-drop cancellation through onDrop.

The issue-mode test invokes only onDragOver. The composer registers onDrop separately, so an onDrop regression could allow file drops while this test still passes. Add a focused onDrop assertion.

Add an onDrop assertion to the issue-mode drop test.

The issue-mode test checks only onDragOver. The composer wrapper also binds onDrop in issue mode. A change that removes or weakens only that onDrop binding passes the current test. A file drop can then reach the browser's default drop behavior. The test should call dropzone.props.onDrop with a Files payload and assert that preventDefault runs.

The hypothesis treats onDrop as a distinct handler. It is not. onDragOver and onDrop both use the same cancelFileDrop function. A regression inside that function fails the existing onDragOver assertion. The coverage gap applies only to the onDrop prop wiring.

Suggested fix
