Ports two Omarchy Mac boot fixes (omacom/omarchy-mac-pkgs 7ae91471 and a0fa1a8b, MIT) into our transform's mkinitcpio block. These are the same kind of "fixes Omarchy's installer gave us that this port never runs" as the HID and display-crossbar early-loads.

Problem: on kernels that build apple_pmp and pwm_apple as modules (upstream reports linux-aurora 7.2.11), both sit on the encrypted root. Boot waits out "PMP driver did not bind within 20000 ms" before the passphrase prompt, and the keyboard backlight stays off while you type the passphrase.

Change:

  • mseries/boot/initramfs-hardware.snippet: adds apple_pmp and pwm_apple to the existing modinfo-guarded list, so a kernel without them never fails mkinitcpio. It also bundles the udev rule below with FILES when the rule is installed.
  • New mseries/boot/90-elementary-mac-kbd-backlight.rules: turns kbd_backlight on at 128 when leds_pwm registers it at 0. systemd-backlight restores the saved level after unlock, and a backlight that's already on is left alone.
  • bin/elementary-mac-setup: install_initramfs_fixes installs the rule to /etc/udev/rules.d/.
  • test-elementary-mac-setup.sh: checks the module list with every driver present, and with some missing.
  • PORT-MAP.md row and handoff entry.

Scope:

  • Our fairydust kernel builds both drivers in (=y), so it's unaffected. I don't know whether your current Aurora kernel builds them as modules.
  • The factory image (initramfs-tools) isn't covered.
  • Existing hosts only get this when elementary-mac-setup re-applies the initramfs block.

Not verified: an initramfs rebuild or a boot on the j314s.

…board at the passphrase prompt

Ports omarchy-mac-pkgs 7ae91471 and a0fa1a8b (MIT) into the transform's mkinitcpio
block. On kernels that build apple_pmp and pwm_apple as modules (linux-aurora
7.2.11), an encrypted root otherwise waits out a 20 s PMP bind timeout before the
passphrase prompt, and the keyboard backlight stays off while the passphrase is
typed. initramfs-hardware.snippet adds both modules where modinfo names them and
bundles a udev rule (installed by elementary-mac-setup) that turns kbd_backlight
on at 128 when leds_pwm registers it at 0. Not verified on hardware.
