HIGH: the build fails. 25 of the new versions require compileSdk 37, and app/build.gradle.kts:183 is still on 36, so :app:checkDevDebugAarMetadata stops the build. CI's build and build-local jobs fail on it at c1e0372.

The libraries that need API 37:

  • androidx.core:core / core-ktx 1.19.1 (this line)
  • coil 3.6.3 (coil-android, coil-compose-*, coil-core-android)
  • haze 1.7.3
  • androidx.hilt:hilt-navigation-compose / hilt-lifecycle-viewmodel-compose 1.4.0
  • androidx.navigation:navigation-compose 2.10.2
  • androidx.glance:glance-appwidget 1.3.0-alpha02
  • androidx.lifecycle:*-compose 2.11.0 and Compose UI/foundation/animation 1.12.0, which come in transitively
  • com.squareup.okhttp3:okhttp-android 5.5.0, through ktor 3.6.0

Fix, either:

  1. Raise compileSdk to 37 in the same PR, then rebuild. The AAR check stops the build before Kotlin compiles, so any API breaks from the other bumps (kotlinx-datetime 0.8, kotlinx-collections-immutable 0.5, ktor 3.6) are still unknown.
  2. Or hold back the API-37 bumps (core, coil, haze, hilt-androidx, navCompose, glance, ktor) and merge the rest.
