Bundle constraints leave packages absent from the root lock free to drift between image builds. This change saves the complete /app/bundle-libs dependency closure for each supported target, installs it without a fresh solve, and verifies the installed inventory before accepting the image.

#653 is now merged. This follow-up preserves its constraint/security invariants and the already-merged #803/#804 guards while completing the saved overlay-lock and installed-inventory contract.

  • Save 15 PEP751 closures: all 11 released Linux amd64 targets and four documented CPU arm64 combinations, with exact public artifact hashes or Git commits.
  • Bind each closure to root-lock inputs, declarations, architecture, uv 0.9.28 and compiler/verifier policy. Preserve compatible root pins; unexplained exceptions, stale inputs and unsupported targets fail closed.
  • Require saved-lock validation in CI and installed distribution/dependency/direct-source checks in Docker builds, with an inventory receipt.

Normal integration dbd0ab02 of landed #653 keeps all 43 PR files byte-identical to the reviewed c6a90128 implementation and preserves all 29 newer main files, including #806/#807. None of the 15 locks, 15 manifests or exception entries changed from 97559301; no dependency solve or version update was performed. The compiler's explicit --root checkout binding and inherited security guards remain covered.

Validation: 273 focused resolver/compiler/inventory/Docker/required-CI controls passed, including all 15 saved-lock reads with pinned uv 0.9.28. Format, scoped lint and typecheck passed. Initial local lint/environment invocation failures remain retained; corrected checks passed without source edits or repeating successful tests. All 46 checks, including the 11 release container builds, and a full CodeRabbit review passed for c6a90128. Those checks are retained as prior-head evidence; fresh full CI and actual review are required for the normal integration commit.

Prior component evidence: two fresh Linux amd64 CPU containers installed the complete CT2 overlay with identical four-package inventories and metadata. Registry/direct-wheel/exact-Git installs exercised actual uv PEP610 metadata; an incorrect artifact hash failed. Both containers were independently verified removed after correcting a cleanup-reporting assumption; the original result is retained. CT2 lock and installation inputs are unchanged. The verifier has since gained reviewed source-pin checks; this is component evidence, not a new image-build result.

Scope is the distribution inventory in /app/bundle-libs. Base virtual environments, source-build environments, whole-image byte reproducibility and GPU runtime qualification are excluded. The existing CUDA 13 base/overlay dual-Torch limitation remains documented. Installed metadata checks source identity; uv checks downloaded artifact hashes.

Follow-up for #377; no automatic issue closure.

  • Bug Fixes
    • Image builds and CI now check dependency lock consistency and installed packages, helping catch mismatches before release.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance for supported targets, dependency lock validation, and updating saved locks.

YeonwooSung and others added 15 commits October 9, 2026 21:48
Pin ranged bundle dependencies to the versions in uv.lock when images
install /app/bundle-libs. Exact bundle specs still override the lock.

Refs #377
Pin the locked transitive closure, omit extras from constraint lines, and
skip a package when uv.lock has two public versions instead of failing the
image build. The constraints header states that this can install an older
release than an unconstrained build.

Refs #377
ty rejected item.get on a dict narrowed from object. The lock edge
reader now casts to Mapping, matching the other bundle field reads.

The Dockerfile test splits a RUN on ;; so each CUDA 12 install must
carry its own constraint file. An opted-in resolution run fails when
uv is missing instead of skipping.

Refs #377
A package reached by both a constrained root and an untrusted root was
still pinned to uv.lock. That pin can contradict the distribution the
bundle actually installs, such as huggingface-hub 0.36 next to
transformers 5. Direct constrained requirements stay pinned.

📝 Walkthrough

The change adds saved dependency locks for bundle targets, tools to compile and verify those locks, and Docker build steps that install and verify locked overlays. CI checks saved lock consistency and image-resolution behavior, and makes the bundle-resolution job required.

Changes: Saved Bundle Dependency Locks

Layer / File(s) Summary
Compile and record target locks
tools/ci/bundle_lock.py, tools/ci/tests/test_bundle_lock.py, packages/sie_server/bundle-locks/*
The compiler creates and validates target-specific locks and manifests. The checked-in records define target package artifacts, hashes, index settings, exceptions, and source pins. The README documents lock validation and updates.
Validate locks and installed inventories
packages/sie_server/src/sie_server/bundle_lock.py, packages/sie_server/tests/core/test_bundle_lock.py, packages/sie_server/tests/core/test_bundle_requirements.py
The verifier checks lock inputs, packages, sources, and target details. It validates installed distribution metadata and dependency closure, then creates an inventory receipt. Tests cover lock drift, inventory mismatches, source identity, and constraints.
Install locked overlays and require CI checks
packages/sie_server/Dockerfile.*, .github/workflows/ci.yml, packages/sie_server/tests/core/test_bundle_image_resolution.py, tools/ci/tests/test_docker_task.py
CPU and CUDA image builders check and sync selected locks, verify installed overlays, and copy freeze listings and inventory receipts into runtime images. CI checks saved locks and image resolution, and includes bundle resolution in the required jobs.

Please review exact head 8f7c114754a379eb72fe34c8e86f51de4f6353b8, especially complete lock consumption, root-pin/source exceptions, installed metadata verification and Docker/CI drift checks. This is a dependent draft that preserves #653's commits and human review hold. The new closure work is isolated in the head commit; neither PR should merge while that hold remains unresolved.

@coderabbitai review

The new head fixes two demonstrated CI seams: package tests load the repository compiler by its explicit path, and the saved-lock reader receives the exact Docker-pinned uv executable instead of the root environment's uv. CUDA13 native wheels now retain their established cu130 variants using exact public version/URL/SHA256 source pins; the global resolver cutoff remains enabled.

The model-loading security finding remains open. The published sentence-transformers 5.6.0 and 5.7.0 helpers still permit local custom-module loading independently of the trust flag, so a version bump alone is not being represented as remediation. A separate, compatibility-preserving trust-boundary correction is being prepared. The default Transformers4 contract has not been silently changed.

Please review the corrected build-tooling head. This dependent PR remains draft and must not merge while PR653's human review hold or the security finding remains unresolved.

Please review exact head 94540d8. This draft now preserves the reviewed ST and Transformers compatibility changes from #803/#804, refreshes the affected saved overlay locks, removes three obsolete ST exceptions, and updates two stale exact-pin test expectations. The exact ST version is not presented as the trust-boundary fix; the helper remains required. No compiler, verifier, installer or CUDA exception policy changed in this refresh.

The existing human hold on parent #653 remains in force, and #803/#804 must land first. Please keep this PR a draft; this request is for actual review of the new head and does not resolve or bypass any parent hold.

Please review exact head 7fa5e4ffabae9884c2522ccaa32fc4c51acb677e. This integrates the reviewed security parent 166f50627a4efc051b52f98777e4a1d63b45f08d from #804 and resolver parent 5099112b84b4285599bb83ca57b7cb844e21a0b2 from #653, preserving their ancestry. The OpenCLIP constructor path now installs the permanent policy before its factory; the SGLang parent processor/reasoning-tokenizer calls do likewise before child startup. The resolver no longer derives trusted constraints through ambiguous multi-version nodes. Only the 15 policy bindings changed in the lock manifests; all saved dependency locks remain unchanged by these parent integrations.

91 distinct tooling/inventory/reader controls and the scoped 52 parent-loading controls pass. Fresh full CI and all 11 release server image builds are required on this head. This PR remains draft and blocked on #653's human review and #804; this request does not waive either dependency or any review hold.

Please review exact head d020e9d3b300d661fd50d5922f58db972687c9b9. The compiler-path finding is fixed with an actual cross-checkout policy regression; all saved dependency closures remain unchanged. PR802 stays draft and cannot merge until the dependent security PR and PR653 human review hold are resolved.

Please review exact head 975593016001cf27008d163ac56056a3831be7fd. This is a normal ancestry merge with parents d020e9d3b300d661fd50d5922f58db972687c9b9 and merged-main ae3796b09ac0da81f18af3d52c743a5fc4d049dd. The entire Git tree is byte-identical to d020 (0a44519f2c8ad6462f7a8d3307222a0fcee2defa): no source, test, dependency, saved-lock, or manifest content changed. All 47 checks on d020 passed, but its actual approvals were dismissed because the merge base changed. Fresh CI is running for this head.

This PR remains draft and depends on PR #653; its human review hold is unchanged. PR #804 has merged. Please provide an actual exact-head review; no hold is being bypassed.

Please review exact head c6a9012852e73b9c076458dad1c96444eaebc735. This is the reviewed normal main integration; the 15 saved locks/manifests and exceptions are unchanged. PR #802 remains a draft dependent on approved-but-unmerged #653. Fresh current-head CI is required; prior reviews/checks are not treated as new-head approval.

Please review exact head dbd0ab02d6f06be0aa025b518f2e93354e4c2855. PR #653 is now merged. This normal integration resolves seven squash-ancestry conflicts using the previously reviewed PR802 bytes: all 43 remaining PR files and all 15 locks/manifests remain unchanged, and all 29 newer main files are preserved. The implementation is ready for review; fresh current-head required CI is running.
