Releases 0.4.0 to npm latest. Merge with a merge commit.

0.4.0-rc.1 is on npm under the rc dist-tag.

  • fix(layout): architecture and dataflow layouts stay readable on request handlers that call many cards, replies, and groups that feed each other (fix(layout): keep the flow readable on hubs, replies and groups that feed each other #52).
    • Replies and edges that close a loop are laid out against the flow, so the caller stays upstream of what it calls. Edges that still run backwards are flipped and the layout is redone once, instead of wrapping round the diagram.
    • A card's edges of one tone and line style leave or arrive as one trunk. Another tone or line style gets its own port.
    • Labels sit by the card they name, on a run of their own edge where one has room. They keep off group frames, and the layout widens gaps when a label has no clear spot.
    • Rows in top-down layouts are top-aligned. Lines that were slanted by a third of a pixel are drawn straight, and two ports a few pixels out of line are joined by one straight line.
  • feat(viewer):
    • Where lines cross, the line passing under gets a short break, so a crossing isn't read as a trunk junction.
    • Below 50% zoom, edge labels fade out. Labels on edges a selection or trace lights stay, and exports always include every label.
    • Handle dots are drawn wherever an edge meets its card.
  • feat(schema): new warning semantics/duplicate-row-label for two rows on one card with the same label.
  • docs(skill): the authoring contract covers flow order, marking replies as return, busy cards, and one row per label.
  • docs(site): arriving from another page lands on the install section (docs(site): land on the install section when arriving from another page #51).
  • test: a stress set of made-up diagrams, layout quality checks over every shipped diagram, a 200-case layout fuzz, and refreshed visual baselines.

Diagrams past 60 nodes lay out more slowly: about 5s at 120 nodes, against about 2s in 0.3.0.

… give labelled and distinct edges their own ports, and seat labels by the card they name
