Hi @setchy@afonsojramos — thanks for Gitify, it's a great way to keep up with notifications. I maintain FlatPark, a small hub that offers Flatpak installs for apps that aren't on Flathub, and I've packaged Gitify there.
It uses Flatpak extra-data, so it downloads your official gitify_<version>_amd64.deb from your GitHub releases unmodified at install time and tracks new releases automatically — I don't rehost or patch anything.
App id: io.gitify.Gitify, from your domain gitify.io. It runs through zypak, so Chromium keeps its sandbox.
Permissions: Wayland/X11, GPU, network, audio (the notification sound), desktop notifications, the StatusNotifier watcher for the tray icon, and the Secret Service for safeStorage. No filesystem access.
The tray icon registers with the watcher out of the box; no extra shims were needed.
Updates come through Flatpak. I noticed fix: respect package-managed updates and user preferences #3346 would turn the built-in updater off by default for package-managed installs; once it lands, that covers this package with nothing to change on my side.
I've only smoke-tested it myself — launch, the tray icon registering and the update check, but not signing in or the notification list — so my coverage is certainly incomplete. If you have time to put it through real use and see what breaks, I'd genuinely appreciate it, and any issue or PR on the packaging is very welcome: https://github.com/flatpark/flatpark/tree/main/registry/io.gitify.Gitify
If you'd be willing to make FlatPark an officially supported install method — mentioning it in your README, install docs or download page — I'd be grateful. The idea is that it takes the Flatpak packaging and distribution work off your plate while giving your Linux users a clean install and automatic updates.
And if you'd rather I not list it, just say so and I'll remove it right away. If you're happy for it to stay, I'll add a blue "developer-approved" shield to its FlatPark page and feature it on the homepage. Hope this helps your users!
