Summary

Adds a recipe to the MCP effects contract (openscreen://effects/contract) for staging real UI blocks: lifting a card to the camera, zooming into a panel, exploding a dashboard into 3D cards.

The compositor sees pixels, not the page, so the recipe tells the agent to:

  • read each block's getBoundingClientRect() in the page it records, as fractions of the frame;
  • write the rects into the WGSL as constants, with a few keyframes for a block that moves;
  • hide the cursor and draw the pointer in the effect, moved with the block it sits on.

No contract change: contract 1 already covers it. We considered a rect param type, element tracks and a separate cursor layer, and dropped them: an agent re-prompts faster than a user tunes four sliders.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Added guidance for lifting recorded interface blocks into visual effects.
    • Covers capturing normalized block bounds, encoding fixed values or time-based keyframes, and mapping them through footage coordinates.
    • Explains how to hide the recorded cursor when supported and redraw the pointer using cursor and click context.
    • Includes instructions for validating results by reviewing generated frames.

Agents read block rects from the DOM while recording, write them into the
WGSL, hide the cursor and draw the pointer in the effect, moved with the
block it sits on. No contract change: the contract 1 inputs already cover it.

📝 Walkthrough

The effects contract now documents a recipe for extracting UI blocks from recordings, positioning them through footage coordinates, handling cursor visibility, redrawing the pointer, and validating frames.

- Around line 152-154: Update the recording guidance around the block rectangle
conversion to map viewport coordinates into recorded-frame fractions: offset x
and y by the viewport origin after scaling from CSS viewport size to frame
viewport size, scale width and height without the origin offset, then apply
project cropping afterward.
- Around line 161-163: Update the cursor recipe in the documented recording
workflow to require an editable-overlay recording before hiding the editor
cursor. Explicitly state that system-cursor recordings bake pointer pixels into
the video and must be re-recorded with --cursor editable-overlay; retain the
existing setEditorSettings, ctx.cursor, and ctx.clicks guidance.
