Remove .github/workflows/co-docs-builder.yml: a label-gated (ci:doc-build) pull_request_target Vercel publish that cannot currently succeed, and that would be unsafe if it were repaired.

It does not work today. Verified by triggering it with a throwaway PR (#7210, closed, branch and temporary label deleted): both pull_request_target runs (opened, labeled) failed at the step Insert PR changes into prebuild with Can't find 'action.yml', 'action.yaml' or 'Dockerfile' under .../workflows/.github/actions/version-content. The cause is that elastic/workflows@main has no .github/actions directory.

  • The steps before it succeeded: the job checked out the PR head and, with VERCEL_GITHUB_TOKEN, the site and prebuild repos. The Vercel preview step and the push step were skipped.
  • It could not be triggered before this test: the repo has no ci:doc-build label and no files under docs/serverless/, and the workflow has no runs.

Why remove instead of hardening: if the missing action were restored, the callee would check out refs/pull/N/head while *_PUBLIC Vercel secrets and a PAT (VERCEL_GITHUB_TOKEN, which can push to elastic/<prebuild>) are in scope. Making that safe means rebuilding the preview on pull_request or the docs-builder preview from elastic/docs-actions, not editing this file. If anyone still needs a docs-site preview from this repo, that is the follow-up.

Required checks on main (branch protection): CLA and buildkite/docs-build-pr; none come from this workflow. No other references in the repo.

A documentation preview will be available soon.

Request a new doc build by commenting
  • Rebuild this PR: run docs-build
  • Rebuild this PR and all Elastic docs: run docs-build rebuild

run docs-build is much faster than run docs-build rebuild. A rebuild should only be needed in rare situations.

If your PR continues to fail for an unknown reason, the doc build pipeline may be broken. Elastic employees can check the pipeline status here.

This pull request does not have a backport label. Could you fix it @mallendem? 🙏
To fixup this pull request, you need to add the backport labels for the needed
branches, such as:

  • v7.x is the label to automatically backport to the 7.x branch.
  • v7./d./d is the label to automatically backport to the 7./d branch. /d is the digit

NOTE: backport-skip has been added to this pull request.
