Summary

  • New optional columns element in page-sequence-properties with count, space and separator attributes, mapped to the section's w:cols. Added to the RNG with documentation.
  • The last section's columns are carried over to the body-level section properties (mergeSectPrs).
  • --fit-images fits images to the column width when a section has columns.
  • Mixed single/multi-column areas use the existing section/@type="continuous", and column breaks use the existing break type="column".
  • Tests, fixture and README release note added. Unequal column widths are out of scope.

Testing

  • mvn install passes. The last-section test fails without the mergeSectPrs change.
  • Fixture validates against the RNG (jing).
  • Opened in Word: two columns with a separator and a column break, a continuous single-column section, and a last section with three columns, all render correctly.

Related: #167 was split into this and #195 (positioned images).

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

- Add a columns element (count, space, separator) to
  page-sequence-properties that sets the section's w:cols.
- Carry the last section's columns over to the body-level section
  properties.
- Fit images (--fit-images) to the column width rather than the page
content width when a section has columns.
