perf: load the photo viewer only when a photo opens - #340
The photo viewer now loads when a photo opens, instead of being part of the layout every page loads
The layout chunk drops from 593 to 507 KB (188.6 → 162.3 kB gzip)
Pages without commit cards, like settings, load 86 KB less before they render; pages showing commits load about the same, since they need the commit card code anyway
Opening a photo looks and works the same

Improvements
The photo viewer now loads when a photo first appears and remains on the page after the photo is closed. This provides a consistent viewing experience when opening and closing photos. The viewer is not displayed before a photo has appeared.
Could you provide before-after recordings to see how it affects (if at all) images loading times (when you explicitly refresh on an opened image), as well as drafts and composer?

It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
AppLayout now loads CommitImageViewer lazily. It tracks whether a photo has appeared and renders the viewer inside Suspense after that occurs, while the page is not deleted.

Summary
Lazy viewer loading and rendering resources/js/layouts/app-layout.tsx
AppLayout reads an optional photo prop, tracks whether a photo has appeared, and lazily loads CommitImageViewer. It renders the viewer inside Suspense after a photo has appeared and while the page is not deleted.
dev-null-sh/dev-null.sh#1205: It applies the same lazy-loading pattern to CommitImageViewer in app-layout.tsx and another photo entry point.

Merge Risk: Moderate · previous review 9efe4
Opening a photo from an older tab after deployment could unmount the page if the viewer chunk is unavailable. Add a recovery path before merging.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 9efe4
The change does not show an expanded authorization or data-access boundary. The main risk is failure containment: if the deferred viewer fails to load, opening a photo can disrupt the application rather than only the viewer.
Retained concerns
Low · reliability · inferred: A rejected deferred viewer import can escape the photo-viewer subtree and disrupt the active application. Suspense handles pending loading, not rejected imports, and the inspected application tree provides no application-defined error boundary. Unlike the previous eager dependency, this failure can occur when opening a photo after a successful page load. Exposure is bounded to the affected browser session; no attacker-controlled import target was identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The identified failure path affects the application UI in a browser session that activates the viewer. The inspected change does not establish cross-tenant, server-side, or data-store impact.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
inferred — The changed entrypoint alters when existing viewer code runs, rather than granting new authority. Its fixed import and unchanged photo consumer provide no supported path from photo-controlled data to arbitrary module loading or a new privileged sink.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — Repeated opens reuse the activated viewer, while absent-photo callbacks remain guarded. These controls counter a stale-photo transition concern but do not recover a rejected lazy import.
