The Encoding menu only contained a "not currently implemented" placeholder. Replace it with the four Unicode encodings that are already supported when reading and writing files: UTF-8, UTF-8-BOM, UTF-16 BE BOM and UTF-16 LE BOM, using the Notepad++ names. Choosing one converts the document: the text is unchanged and it is written in the new encoding the next time it is saved. The document is marked as modified while its encoding differs from the file on disk, and switching back to the original encoding clears it again. The encoding label in the status bar also opens this menu on right click, like the EOL label does. Related to dail8859#49
The previous macos-15-intel / Qt 6.8 job failed in the DMG packaging
step ("hdiutil: create failed - Resource busy"), a transient runner
issue unrelated to the changes.
