fix(cmake): set PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR as a cache entry - #66
Set PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR as a CMake cache entry (CACHE PATH "Plugin install path") in CMakeLists.txt across all platform/precision branches so packagers (e.g., Homebrew) can override -DPLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR=... while preserving existing defaults.
Document the PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR CMake cache variable in README.md.
Background
PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR was previously made a cache entry on macOS in #13 (33c7db3), but regressed to a non-cache variable when 76e5d49 (authored prior to #13) was rebased and merged in #10 (4cbd806).
Restore `CACHE PATH` on `PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR` definitions in CMakeLists.txt
(which was accidentally dropped when rebasing 76e5d49 in PR #10) so
packagers can override the plugin install location via `-DPLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR`.
Fixes#12
CMake now exposes PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR as a cache path across platform and precision branches. The README documents how to override it. Existing platform-specific default locations remain unchanged.
Changes: Plugin Install Path
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Configure and document the install path CMakeLists.txt, README.md
CMake declares PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR as a cached PATH while retaining the existing defaults. The README explains how to set a custom path and includes an example.
Packagers can now override the plugin install directory with -DPLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR, as intended. One caveat: if you switch precision or install prefix in an existing build directory, the previously cached default can persist. Clear the cache or pass the path explicitly in that case. This is a bounded issue, so the change can merge with that awareness.

Explanation
The title "fix(cmake): set PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR as a cache entry" names the main change. The PR defines PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR as a CMake CACHE PATH entry in CMakeLists.txt across platform and precision branches, and the README documents the override. The title is specific, follows the conventional-commit style, and matches the stated objective of restoring cache entries lost in a rebase.

Explanation
Issue #12 requires a configurable PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR. The reviewed CMakeLists.txt defines PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR as CACHE PATH in the WASM, double-precision, and single-precision branches. The existing platform-specific defaults remain. CMake install targets use this variable. The supplied change summary also records documentation in README.md and a -DPLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR=... override example.

Major · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Refresh the generated cache default when its inputs change.
CMake does not overwrite an existing CACHE entry on a later set(... CACHE ...) call unless FORCE is used. (cmake.org)
For example, configure with USE_DOUBLE=ON, then reconfigure the same build directory with -DUSE_DOUBLE=OFF. PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR remains the plugins64 path, so the install rule uses the wrong precision directory. Changing CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX or USE_LIB64 has the same problem. Preserve explicit -DPLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR overrides, but update the cache when the generated default changes, or clearly require clearing the cache when changing these inputs.
