GA set the _ga cookies with no notice anywhere on the site.

  • About → Privacy (/about/#privacy, linked from every footer) states what a reader's browser shares and how to opt out. It covers:
    • Google Analytics: data collected, cookies, and the opt-out add-on
    • Google Fonts, jsDelivr and unpkg
    • Semantic Scholar citation lookups
    • figures hotlinked from their original sites
    • local storage (theme, citation cache)
  • GA config: allow_google_signals: false and allow_ad_personalization_signals: false. The site shows no ads, and page counts are unchanged.

Not done: consent mode with a 'denied' default. It would drop most analytics data, so that is left as a separate decision.

All five gates pass. The production build shows the new gtag('config', …) options.

GA set its cookies with no notice anywhere on the site. About now says what a
reader's browser shares (GA, fonts and libraries, Semantic Scholar, hotlinked
figures, local storage) and how to opt out, linked from every footer. The site
shows no ads, so GA no longer collects Google signals or ad-personalisation
data.
