Summary

api-service takes the geo-ip-service address from the Consul env template, the same way it takes every other dependency, and a change of that address restarts it. The address file and everything built for it are removed: GEO_IP_SERVICE_URL is a plain required URL, and the geo-ip-client baseUrl is a string.

Changes

  • operations/api-service-stage.hcl, operations/api-service-live.hcl: GEO_IP_SERVICE_URL rendered from geo-ip-service-<env>|any in the config.env template; the local/geo-ip-service-url template and GEO_IP_SERVICE_URL_FILE removed.
  • apps/api-service: GEO_IP_SERVICE_URL is required; GEO_IP_SERVICE_URL_FILE and the exactly-one check are removed.
  • packages/geo-ip-client: baseUrl is a string only; urlFromFile and the function form of baseUrl are removed.
  • READMEs: operations "Reaching it from another job" describes the env template pattern; api-service and geo-ip-client drop the address file.

Verified

  • bun run typecheck and bun test pass under Bun 1.4.3.
  • nomad job validate passes for both job definitions.
