When following the GKE Quickstart in the README, I encountered two issues:

  1. go run ./cmd/ate-setup deploy ate-system --credential-provider='{"name":"k8s.io"}' fails with this error:
Error: at least one of ATE_INGRESS_ALLOWED_SPIFFE_IDS, config.ingressAllowedSPIFFEIDs or --ingress-allowed-spiffe-ids must be set, got none
the settings this run used were written to /usr/local/google/home/shance/.cache/ate-setup/failed/gke_shance-gke-dev_us-central1-c_substrate-cluster-20261020T200915Z.yaml
retry with: ate-setup deploy ate-system --config /usr/local/google/home/shance/.cache/ate-setup/failed/gke_shance-gke-dev_us-central1-c_substrate-cluster-20261020T200915Z.yaml
exit status 1

To resolve this, I added ATE_INGRESS_ALLOWED_SPIFFE_IDS to the ate-dev-env.sh.example script.

  1. go run ./cmd/ate-setup deploy demo demo-counter fails because demo-counter doesn't exist. The command should be: go run ./cmd/ate-setup deploy demo counter

AI use: AI-assisted, I reviewed and tested it.
