Reviewer's GuideThis PR adds typed support for the ATC check-variant form-template endpoint and uses its implementing-class catalog to enrich findings with stable check categories. Because live worklist checkId values can be instance GUIDs, the implementation also follows each finding’s documentation link, extracts the implementing class from the page, and resolves it through the same catalog; all enrichment is bounded, deduplicated, reusable across CLI, server, and MCP flows, and best-effort so failures do not fail ATC runs. Review Summary
This PR introduces check category enrichment for ATC findings by resolving checkId → category mappings through the check variant form template and a documentation-page bridge. The overall architecture is sound, with consistent best-effort error handling across all three entry points (CLI, MCP, server broker).
Blocking Issues Found
1. Unused import in check-categories.ts (line 19)
AtcFinding and AtcResult are imported but never referenced in the file. This will fail lint/CI in a project using @typescript-eslint/no-unused-vars or similar rules.
2. Regex bug in parseCheckClassFromDocumentation (line 135–137)
The regex pattern [^/<] in parseCheckClassFromDocumentation does not match newlines, causing the documentation bridge to silently return undefined for any real SAP documentation page where the <h3> and <p> tags are separated by whitespace or tag content spanning multiple lines. The u flag is also missing, inconsistent with every other regex in the codebase. This means category enrichment via the documentation bridge will produce no results in production.
Security Issue (pre-existing, surfaced by this PR)
3. Arbitrary module load via import(name) in commands/atc.ts (line 494)
The --resolver flag accepts arbitrary user input that is passed directly to import(). Only abapgit is safe-listed; any other value — including relative paths like ../../evil or absolute paths — can load arbitrary modules. While this is pre-existing code, this PR adds the resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation call that increases the attack surface by touching HTML content from SAP servers, making it a good moment to address.1 The fix is to validate name against a package-name pattern (/^(@[a-z0-9-]+\/)?[a-z0-9][a-z0-9._-]*$/i) before importing.

AtcFinding and AtcResult are imported but never used in this file — neither type appears anywhere in the module's code. This will cause a lint error (@typescript-eslint/no-unused-vars or the project's no-unused-imports rule) and may block CI.

🛑 Logic Error: The regex is missing the u (unicode) flag used by every other regex in this codebase, and the [^/<] negated class does not match newlines — meaning the pattern silently fails when the SAP documentation HTML has any whitespace or tag content between the </h3> and <p> that includes a newline character. The result is that parseCheckClassFromDocumentation always returns undefined for multi-line HTML responses, making the entire documentation bridge produce no category enrichment.

**Live findings lack categories**
When ATC worklist findings carry GUID checkIds instead of implementing-class names, `enrichFindingsWithCategories` cannot match those IDs to the implementing-class keys in the catalog; MCP drops the documentation URI during canonicalization, and neither MCP nor the server resolves classes through documentation, so findings return without categories.
Resolve implementing classes through the documentation bridge in both MCP and server flows, retaining the documentation URI in canonical findings.

**GitLab exports opaque check IDs**
When the formatter receives a live worklist finding with a GUID checkId, `outputGitLabCodeQuality` copies the GUID into `check_id` instead of the implementing-class identity, so downstream consumers receive an opaque instance ID rather than the stable class-based rule key.
Set `check_id` to the implementing class resolved from the documentation page, retaining the GUID only as a fallback.

**Documentation reads delay ATC runs**
When a run has multiple distinct documentation URIs and the endpoint responds slowly or does not settle, `resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation` awaits each read serially, delaying output for slow endpoints; a request that never settles also blocks enrichment when no outer abort signal is active.
Apply a per-read timeout and bound the number of concurrent documentation reads.

<issue_to_address>
**Namespaced checks lose categories**
When a documentation page names an implementing class in an ABAP namespace, `parseCheckClassFromDocumentation` only captures an unqualified class name, so it rejects names such as `/ACME/CL_CHECK` and the finding remains uncategorized.
Update the class-name pattern to accept and return ABAP namespace prefixes.

**Categories reflect edited variant**
When an administrator edits the selected check variant after the run finishes but before its form template is fetched, `atcCommand`, `runAtc`, and MCP `atc_run` fetch the current catalog after retrieving findings, so the index can describe the edited configuration instead of the checks that produced those findings; callers receive incorrect categories.
Bind enrichment to an immutable snapshot of the variant configuration used by the run.

**Catalog failures are silent**
When the form-template request fails in an MCP or server run, `fetchCheckCategoryIndex` catches catalog-fetch errors and returns an empty index, but these callers omit its optional logger. The run succeeds with missing categories and no operator-visible indication that enrichment failed. Pass an appropriate warning logger, or otherwise surface the enrichment failure.

**Localized docs pages fail mapping**
When the ADT client requests a documentation page in a language that localizes the `Check Class` heading, `parseCheckClassFromDocumentation` only matches the English text `Check Class`, so it returns no class when the documentation page localizes that heading and GUID-based findings remain uncategorized.
Extract the class using language-independent page structure, or request the documentation page in a guaranteed language understood by the parser.

**Contract documents a false identifier match**
When a consumer relies on the public contract comment to map findings to catalog checks, external consumers following the `formtemplate` contract comment treat each implementing class as the worklist `checkId` and attempt a direct lookup. Live findings instead carry GUIDs, so that documented mapping does not resolve their categories and consumers miss the documentation-page bridge.
Correct the contract documentation to distinguish GUID `checkId` values from implementing classes and describe the documentation-page bridge.

**MCP misses GUID categories**
When the MCP mock worklist uses a class name as `checkId` instead of a GUID, `integration.test.ts:341-346` asserts enrichment using the mock worklist’s class-name `checkId`, which matches the catalog directly. Since `atc_run` only calls direct enrichment, the test passes while real GUID-based findings remain uncategorized in MCP results.
Use a GUID-based mock finding and test that MCP resolves its category through the documentation-page bridge.

Server findings lack categories
The server and MCP paths only match checkId against implementing-class names. For the GUID-shaped findings described in this PR, that lookup cannot succeed, even when the catalog and documentation are available. Both paths return findings without categories.
Call resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation here and in the MCP path, as the CLI does. Preserve the documentation link in the MCP conversion and add GUID-shaped tests for both paths.

Report exports the wrong identity
check_id exports the raw worklist checkId, not the implementing-class name promised here. For GUID-shaped findings, the documentation fallback resolves the class but discards it after setting checkCategory. Downstream users therefore receive a check-instance GUID instead of the class identity.
Preserve the resolved class in a separate field and export it as check_id. Keep the original checkId for finding operations.

Documentation reads run one at a time and are cached only by occurrence URL. A worklist with different documentation URLs adds one sequential request per finding before producing any report, even when many findings share a checkId. Large runs can spend minutes fetching optional categories after the checks finish.
Cache successful resolutions by checkId and use a small concurrency limit or an overall enrichment budget.

Resolve GUID-based categories before returning MCP findings
When a live worklist uses the GUID checkId shape covered by the new category tests, this index is keyed by the implementing class from the form template, so this call cannot match any finding. Unlike the CLI flow, canonicalFindings discards the finding documentation relation and this path never invokes resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation; atc_run therefore omits checkCategory for those live findings. Preserve the trusted documentation URI and use the same bridge before serializing the MCP response.

Bridge GUID check IDs in broker ATC runs
For SAP worklists whose checkId is the GUID documented by the new category tests, categoryIndex contains implementing-class names and this direct enrichment leaves every such finding uncategorized. toCanonicalAtcFindings already retains each finding's trusted documentationUri, but runAtc stops here rather than using resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation, so destination-side ATC runs never provide the new category field for the live GUID-shaped results. Apply the same documentation bridge before returning the findings.

This fixture explicitly fabricates a catalog entry whose implementing-class name equals the mock worklist checkId, so the new integration test can only exercise the direct lookup. Real worklists can instead supply GUID check IDs (which requires the documentation bridge), meaning the mock masks the production behavior that the MCP path currently misses. Replace it with a sanitized captured response and matching real-shape worklist data so this regression is exercised.

Validate the documentation href before passing it to readTextBounded.
documentationUriFromFinding returns a worklist-provided href without validation. readTextBounded rejects a different-origin URL, but it accepts same-origin absolute URLs and arbitrary same-origin paths. The authenticated client can therefore request an unintended ADT endpoint. Apply the same path allow-list used by packages/adt-server/src/broker.ts.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
MCP enrichment has the same GUID checkId gap as the broker.
canonicalFindings does not carry documentationUri. Only the direct index match runs here. Live findings with a GUID checkId therefore get no checkCategory. Extract the documentation link in canonicalFindings. Call resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation after enrichFindingsWithCategories. Strip documentationUri from the serialized output if it should not be exposed.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Broker enrichment skips the documentation bridge, so live findings stay uncategorized.
check-categories.ts and the CLI comments state that live worklist findings carry a GUID checkId. The form-template index is keyed by implementing class name. enrichFindingsWithCategories therefore cannot match those findings. The CLI adds resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation for this case. runAtc here does not. The findings already carry a validated documentationUri, and client.readTextBounded is available. Category enrichment in this path then mostly yields nothing on a real system.
The broker test passes because its mock uses a class name as checkId.

Update the runAtc category-enrichment flow to resolve categories for findings
whose GUID checkId cannot match the form-template index: after
enrichFindingsWithCategories, invoke resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation with
client, findings, and categoryIndex so findings can be matched using their
documentationUri.

Review follow-up (4184023):

…rm template ATC worklist findings carry a checkId, but it is a check-instance GUID — not the implementing class name the check variant form template catalog lists (verified against a live S/4 system: no form-template check carries the finding's checkTitle, the GUID-addressed check object 404s like the class-name form, and the finding's own itemid URI 404s). The working bridge is the finding's ATC documentation page (the worklist atom:link): its header line names the check class, which resolves through the form-template index. - adt-schemas: custom XSDs for the form template and its chkc, chko, chkoParameter and chkvcheck dependencies; regenerated schemas and flattened types (chkvFormTemplate) - adt-contracts: manual atc.checkvariants.formtemplate GET endpoint with contract and typed scenario tests - adt-fixtures: real sanitized form template fixture (live S/4 capture, customer-owned entries renamed to ZEXAMPLE_*) plus a synthetic mock-server catalog matching the mock worklist fixture - adt-atc: AtcFinding.checkCategory and documentationUri; parseCheckCategoryIndex, fetchCheckCategoryIndex and resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation (bounded, deduplicated, best-effort — never fails a run); the atc command enriches findings after the worklist fetch; the GitLab Code Quality formatter emits check_id (the stable implementing-class identity) and check_category; SARIF rules carry properties.category - adt-server: CanonicalAtcFinding.checkCategory with best-effort enrichment in the ATC run flow and the REST/OpenAPI finding shape - adt-mcp: atc_run enriches findings with the same shared helpers Enrichment is best-effort by design: an unavailable form template or documentation page never fails the run. `resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation` pending filter against the existing
`ATC_DOCUMENTATION_URI` allow-list before it can reach `readTextBounded`. Update
the `check-categories.test.ts` fixture using `/doc` to use an allowed
documentation URI so the test still exercises the read and warning behavior.
- Around line 125-141: Update the pending-findings loop to cache resolved check
classes by checkId and reuse them for findings with the same ID, even when their
documentationUri values differ. Retain URI-based resolution for findings without
a usable checkId, and preserve the existing category enrichment behavior.

Validate documentationUri inside the bridge before calling readTextBounded.
resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation reads every documentationUri it receives. The CLI (commands/atc.ts) and MCP (atc-run.ts) extract the href from the worklist link without validation. broker.ts validates its URIs with ATC_DOCUMENTATION_URI.
A same-origin href that points to another ADT endpoint therefore triggers an authenticated GET from the CLI and MCP paths. The response is only parsed for a class name, so the impact is low. Add the allow-list here so every consumer is covered.
Update the test at check-categories.test.ts that uses documentationUri: '/doc'. That test expects one warning and would stop reaching the read.

Validate `finding.documentationUri` in the `resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation`
pending filter against the existing `ATC_DOCUMENTATION_URI` allow-list before it
can reach `readTextBounded`. Update the `check-categories.test.ts` fixture using
`/doc` to use an allowed documentation URI so the test still exercises the read
and warning behavior.

🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Cache the resolved check class per checkId to limit sequential documentation reads.
The loop awaits one read per unique documentation URI. Documentation URIs have the form .../itemid/<id>/index/<n>, so findings of the same check can have different URIs. A run with maximumVerdicts up to 10,000 (broker.ts, atc-run.ts) can then issue one sequential HTTP request per finding. This adds latency that grows with the finding count to the CLI, MCP, and broker runs.
If the GUID checkId is shared by all findings of one check, as the "check-instance GUID" wording suggests, resolve the class once per checkId. Also consider a cap on total reads.

Update the pending-findings loop to cache resolved check classes by checkId and
reuse them for findings with the same ID, even when their documentationUri
values differ. Retain URI-based resolution for findings without a usable
checkId, and preserve the existing category enrichment behavior.

What
Maps ATC worklist findings to their check category (e.g.
CI_PERFORMANCE,CI_SECURITY) through the check variant form template (GET /sap/bc/adt/atc/checkvariants/formtemplate?chkvName={name}).Key discovery (verified against a live S/4 system): the worklist finding's
checkIdis a check-instance GUID — not the implementing class name the form template catalog lists. No form-template check carries the finding'scheckTitle, the GUID-addressed check object 404s exactly like the class-name form, and the finding's own itemid URI 404s. The working bridge is the finding's ATC documentation page (the worklistatom:link): its header line names the check class (Appl. Comp. Check / Check Class / Message Code), which resolves through the form-template index.chkc, chko, chkoParameter, chkvcheckdependencies; regenerated schemas + flattened types (chkvFormTemplate)atc.checkvariants.formtemplateGET endpoint with contract and typed scenario testsZEXAMPLE_*) + synthetic mock-server catalog matching the mock worklist fixtureAtcFinding.checkCategory+documentationUri;parseCheckCategoryIndex, fetchCheckCategoryIndex, resolveCategoriesViaDocumentation(bounded 64 KiB, deduplicated per URI, best-effort — never fails a run); theatccommand enriches findings after the worklist fetch; the GitLab Code Quality formatter emitscheck_id(stable implementing-class identity) andcheck_category; SARIF rules carryproperties.categoryCanonicalAtcFinding.checkCategorywith best-effort enrichment in the ATC run flow; REST/OpenAPI finding shapeatc_runenriches findings with the same shared helpersDesign notes
