Measure cloud adoption, sync health and sharing, anonymously - #352
Conversation
Desktop 5.0 brings people to cloud, and what they do there decides what to fix and, later, what a team plan is worth. ProductMetrics sends a handful of anonymous events through AnalyticsService (off when analytics is off), every property a fixed word or a bucket: - cloud_sign_in / cloud_sign_up: method and outcome - move_to_cloud: strategy or folder, size bucket, outcome - local_library (desktop, at start) and cloud_library (desktop, once a session): library size buckets - sync_conflict_shown / sync_conflict_resolved: how many, the reason code, the choice made - sync_failed: changes the server refused for good, by reason code - offline_session: how long, how it ended, changes waiting - share_link_created / share_joined / share_membership: role and target - live_visit: most other people present at once, and how long Server reasons pass only as fixed codes; anything that looks like a message is sent as "other". The live run went offline for 70 s with no offline_session: the hook watched the session's offline state, while the app also shows Offline when the socket is down. Measure signed in with the socket down or the session offline, the condition behind the Offline label. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Every reload sent an offline_session: the socket connecting at start read as out of reach. Count stretches only once the cloud was reachable since sign-in. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
WidgetRef.listen in build has no fireImmediately; the previous commit did not compile. Listen with listenManual from initState instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Gate cloud reachability on Convex readiness.
_cloudOutOfReachProvider treats the initial loading state of convexConnectionProvider as reachable. Its immediate listener can therefore set _cloudReached while the session is authenticated but still configuring. When the socket reports unavailable, _offlineSince starts before Convex becomes ready. Any later recovery records an offline_session duration that includes the initial connection attempt.
Require isConvexUserReady before setting _cloudReached, and update it when readiness changes while the actual connection is available.

Classify folder outcomes the same way as single-strategy outcomes.
failed counts every outcome that is not _Outcome.moved (Line 261). This includes movedLocalKept and movedChangedHere. The single-strategy metric at Lines 159-166 reports both of those outcomes as moved.
Consider a folder where every strategy reaches the cloud but one local copy is kept. The folder event reports partial. If every strategy has the outcome movedChangedHere, the folder event reports not_moved, although all strategies are in the cloud. The move_to_cloud outcome then has a different meaning for each kind.
Count the strategies that reached the cloud separately from failed, and use that count for the metric.

Count refusals that have a waiting successor.
refusedByReason is updated only in the final else branch, where no successor exists. Consider a refused predecessor (!ack.isAck) whose record holds a successorPending. That case goes to the else if (successor != null) branch at Lines 2768-2777. That branch also parks the work in attention with ack.reason, but it records nothing.
An edit made while an earlier op is in flight creates a successor. This happens often. Those refusals are therefore missing from sync_failed.
