Vue used to compile the whole server-rendered page into a template in the browser on every page load. Each component now mounts on its own element, using data-vue-component / data-vue-props attributes and createApp(component, props). Because nothing is compiled in the browser anymore, the build uses Vue's runtime-only bundle and no longer ships the template compiler, which reduces the size of the bundle by about 17%.
