Before: some pages disagreed with each other or with their own scripts.

  • Every page put Ross 128 at 11.01 ly, which is the 2016 Gaia distance. The Drift model gives 10.985 ly in the story's 2219.
  • The archive put the tone at exactly 1420.405 MHz, but transmission 4 says it is shifted up 0.01%.
  • The archive said the whole sequence repeats every pass, but /signals/ rotates five transmissions.
  • The archive log listed 09-28 before 09-27.
  • The no-JS fallback dates were 2209 and 2240, while the scripts compute 2208 and 2241.
  • The kit said the count glyph runs one to nine; it runs one to seven.
  • "Within 25 minutes" was 2.6 s short of the Ceres delay.
  • The /script/ pages still had a voice "draw" its answer.

After: the pages agree with each other and with the scripts, in both languages.

  • Distance 10.98 ly: one way 10.98 yr, round trip 21.96 yr, 103.9 trillion km.
  • The received tone is 1420.55 MHz, just above hydrogen's line. The archive explains the 31 km/s approach, and its waterfall now spans ±600 kHz so the ±260 kHz orbital swing fits.
  • The archive says the 667 bits return every fifth pass and links to /signals/.
  • The other mismatches above are fixed as listed.
  • Smaller fixes:
    • The English transit dates say "about".
    • The script page meta says every triplet, not every line, is an edge.
    • The README names glyph-cli 0.3.0 and lists /signals/ and /drift/.

How: text edits, plus ROSS_128.distance in lib/light.js set to 10.98. npm test passes (22/22). The red Netlify checks on the first commit are left over from before Netlify was disconnected.

- Archive log: the picture (09-27) now comes before the Doppler entry (09-28)
- Ceres heard it 25 min 2.6 s after Farside, so 'within half an hour', not 25 minutes
- No-JS fallbacks: the light left in 2208 and the earliest answer is 2241, as the scripts compute
- Kit: the count glyph is one to seven in three-bit binary, not one to nine
- Signals: the transit years are approximate in English too, as in Chinese
- Script: a voice says, not draws (the grid is our transcription); meta says every triplet, not every line, is an edge
- README: glyph-cli 0.3.0, the signals/ and drift/ sections, and how to install that version for fixtures

The red deploy/netlify, "Pages changed", "Header rules" and "Redirect rules" checks come from the old Netlify site, which is still connected to this repo. They are not caused by this PR. The repo has no Netlify config (netlify.toml was dropped in #9), the site deploys from GitHub Pages, and the same checks fail on every PR. They will stop once the Netlify site is deleted or the Netlify GitHub app is removed from the repo. Only a repo admin can do that, and I can't re-run Netlify from here. npm test passes locally (22/22).

…every fifth pass

- Ross 128 is 10.98 ly away in the story's present (lib/drift.js gives 10.985 ly in 2219); 11.01 ly was the 2016
Gaia distance. One way 10.98 yr, round trip 21.96 yr, 103.9 trillion km; the kit's example dates follow.
- The received tone is 1420.55 MHz, 0.01% above hydrogen's line because Ross 128 approaches at 31 km/s, as
transmission 4 already said; the archive waterfall spans ±600 kHz so the orbital swing fits.
- The archive no longer says the whole sequence repeats every pass: passes rotate through the five transmissions.
